After making headway in the Gujarat civic polls, the Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday went into a celebratory mode. By winning 27 of
the total 120 seats in Surat, AAP made a spectacular debut in the state, effectively stamping out Congress and emerging as the primary opposition party. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 93 to emerge as the winner. Congress has been unable to open its account there. The results are a booster for AAP, which, outside Delhi, seeks to expand its presence.
