Prithviraj Chavan, a Congress leader, criticized the Centre's decision to allow private hospitals to charge people for the

COVID-19 vaccine in phase-II of the immunization program, which began on Monday. The government declared last week that people over 60 and those over 45 who have co-morbidities will get the vaccine for free at government centers and for Rs 250 at private clinics.

According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget speech on February 1, Rs 35,000 crore had been set aside for the vaccination campaign, according to the former Maharashtra CM. In addition, the former Union minister pointed out that countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada offer free vaccines to their citizens through insurance programs or budgetary provisions. Finally, Chavan demands from govt. that all beneficiaries of PMJAY be given the free vaccine of COVID-19.
